While browsing my blog subscriptions this morning, I came across The Simple Woman’s Daybook. For someone who has had a blog to call her own for less than a week, the writer has given me a simple way to share my life with anyone who would happen to read this blog. Thanks!
For Today, July 22, 2008…
Outside My Window… is a parking lot which only means that I am working. Only 4 more hours until I get to go and enjoy what is out there myself. Today is the least humid and least hot day in the past week.
I am thinking… that I might be getting a headache. Today is not the day for it. I refuse.
I am thankful for… Crockpots. Brian and I have implemented Crock Pot Tuesday in our family. Tuesday night is His House Christian Fellowship night (our campus ministry) and there have been many Tuesdays where we haven’t eaten dinner until 9:30 or later! We discovered that if I start something in the Crockpot before leaving for work, dinner is ready by 5 and we get to eat. Crockpots are magic.
From the kitchen… Chicken Tortilla Soup is already cooking. The best part about Crock Pot Tuesday is that I get to go home and smell whatever delicious thing is simmering away. My container garden has taken off enough that we get to have our own lettuce for salad as well. Yay!
I am wearing… dark gray dress pants, light gray 3/4 length, beaded cotton top, navy blue cami and red, pointed toe, leather shoes. There is something incredibly empowering about wearing red shoes. It always makes my day better.
I am creating… curtains for our bedroom. At least, I’ve bought the pattern and the fabric. I have not yet started sewing them. I want the curtains badly but I’m none too patient with my sewing machine. I keep saying I’ll start. Maybe I’ll start tomorrow night after I get back from Detroit?
I am going… to do 2 loads of laundry this afternoon. I never thought I would hate doing laundry as much as I do now because I’ve always kind of enjoyed it. Now that we live in the apartment where each load costs $1.50 to wash and $1.25 to dry, there is nothing convenient about doing the wash. Grandpa and Grandma have graciously allowed us to use their washer and dryer but that still means a several hour time commitment to being somewhere other than home. Someday I will have my own washer and dryer…
I am reading… Anne of Ingleside, the 6th book of the Anne of Green Gables series. I recently rediscovered the books I had put in storage at my parents’ house before leaving for college and have been devouring them as quickly as possible. I am incredibly thankful for a job where I can read while traveling almost every weekend.
I am hoping… that I hear back from Network 180 soon so I can either plan on the change or plan on staying the same.
I am hearing… the hum of the air conditioning unit at the office. At home, I’d be hearing fans whirring, the cat meowing to get my attention, Brian typing at his computer, birds outside the window. I wish I was there. I am meant to be a stay at home mom but unfortunately the cat doesn’t need constant mothering.
Around the house… I need to clean the bathroom. It has gotten out of control. There are fuzzies everywhere. That is not a task for today.
One of my favorite things… is praying with Brian before going to bed. It helps both of us put life back into perspective and is a great way to help both of us get back in touch with our Creator.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Clean bathroom, start curtains, search and destroy spiders, visit the bakery, travel to Detroit for work, and catch up on sleep. Hahaha!
Here is picture thought I am sharing…
